Indiana Roots and California Vines (and Vibes). Scott and Laura Burton decided to combine their love of wine with their love of community by creating a winery that gives 50% of their proceeds to charity. As Scott tells it, “I guess any story that includes 8 kids, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 horses, a cow, basketball, soccer, a 1966 Volkswagen 21 window “hippie van” and a double chocolate chip frappuccino would be considered crazy by most. However we don’t think the idea that inspired our project is all that crazy: Simple acts of kindness can have a ripple effect that can help change the world.” Located in Carmel, Indiana, Peace Water has a Tasting Room in the Arts District serving local customers while the 10 varietals of wine are grown, cellared and bottled in California. The proceeds from sales are given to 8 different charities, local and global, selected by their 8 children. As it says on every Peace Water label, one bottle does a world of good.
